John McCain, who was a POW in Vietnam, is also a veteran of the presidential race.
He made an unsuccessful bid for the White House in 2000. Differing from his new opponents, the Arizona senator would push to require a "super-majority," a three-fifths majority in Congress, to raise taxes. While he wouldn't kill the estate tax, he would raise the exemption threshold to $10 million and cut the tax rate to 15 percent. McCain would permanently abolish the alternative minimum tax, and ban Internet and mobile phone taxes. McCain considers health care reform one of his top priorities. Unlike Giuliani's tax exclusion for those without employer-based health insurance, McCain would provide a tax credit for people who have health insurance -- $2,500 for individuals and $5,000 for families. He would support alternative health care access, such as walk-in clinics in retail stores, making insurance policies portable from job to job and would seek the safe re-importation of drugs to keep prices competitive.
