Costumes for pets
One in 10 Halloween celebrants, or 7.4 million households, will be dressing up their pets this year, the National Retail Federation reports. Plus, Fido will be taking part in the action as many plan to include their dogs in trick-or-treating festivities, either going from house to house or handing out candy.
Favorite costumes for canines this year include devils, pumpkins, witches, princesses, angels and pirates. Pet owners also love thinking up unique costumes for their furry friends, such as flying monkeys from "The Wizard of Oz" or putting several dogs into banana costumes to form a bunch.
At Halloweenmart, you can even get a dog version of some of their human costumes so that you and Fifi can enjoy a festive night on the town in matching outfits.
In New York, the sky's the limit when it comes to doggy -- and kitty -- disguises.
"We have devil costumes and even a little stripper
costume with cuffs and a bow tie and pirate costumes," says
Delosangeles. "And even cat costumes -- can't forget about
cats. It's the first year we've carried them so we'll see what turns out to be popular," she says.
