The Emmy-winning actress who makes it a weekly practice to talk to the dead on NBC's "Medium" also makes it a weekly practice to shun plastic bags at grocery stores.
"Almost all our food comes packaged in plastic, plus most of our kids' toys are plastic. Is the government testing all these plastics? I avoid plastic as much as possible because I'm not sure whose interests are being protected. I don't think plastic is good for the environment because recycling it is very difficult. Styrofoam containers are said to outlast people. When I go to the supermarket, I don't put my fruits and vegetables in a plastic bag. I bring my own cloth bag for a short shopping trip which can be re-used."
