Discharge usually occurs within three to five years. The timing mostly depends on when debts are paid in full.
Chapter 13: Secured credit card (three years)
Bankrupt consumers can get a secured credit card immediately after discharge.
Annual percentage rates are usually from 15 percent to 25 percent.
Chapter 13: Request annual credit reports (three years)
Get a credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) immediately after discharge.
Check for errors, missing information and an "included in BK" notification for pre-bankruptcy debts.
