Percentage of bank-owned ATMs with surcharges hit new high
The percentage of banks in the survey with ATM surcharges has jumped
notably in the past two years, reaching the highest level yet. The
percentage has jumped from less than 91 percent in fall 2004 to
more than 98 percent now. Just how prevalent is the practice of
automated teller machine surcharges? The percentage of banks owning
ATMs that assess surcharges is the same as banks that offer online
account access -- 98.3 percent.
