Last Christmas was the year of Barbie as Rapunzel,
complete with a movie and a plastic tower. The year before
was Barbie in "The Nutcracker." This year is the
year of Barbie of Swan Lake.
"Every year Mattel comes out with a special Barbie theme,"
says Katie McKay, a district manager for FAO Schwarz. "It
starts out with a movie ($13.88 to $19.98 DVD or VHS),"
she says. "Then, there's always the large piece -- this
year it's the castle ($109.97 to $129.99) -- and then the
doll."
Barbie as Odette is wearing a swan-like ballerina costume
with wings that light up.
