Refinance to remove co-signer from loan

Dear Terry,
On Jan. 24, 2006, I co-signed a car loan with my son. He has not been delinquent on payments nor has he missed a payment. Is there a way to remove my name as co-signer after two years on the loan? Thanks.

Dear David,
Check with your current lender to see if they are willing to drop you from the loan. A better option, depending on your son's current credit rating, would be for him to apply for a loan to refinance the car on his own.
