Renegotiating a car's price

Dear Terry,
While I was looking for a car to buy I was quoted a price over the Internet from a local dealer. By the time I got to the auto dealer and bought the car about two weeks later I had totally forgotten about the Internet price and the price I paid was higher than the original quote.

I also worked a deal to get a tow hitch added after the fact and the dealer had a company add it on, but it looks hideous. It was not what I thought I was going to get.

I did not make a down payment and I have not made any payments yet. Can I turn the car back in and void the sale and start over?
-- Jay

Dear Jay,
The price of the vehicle is the price you agreed on when you signed the sales contract. There is no recourse now to go back and say, "Wait a minute, I remember that you guys told me something different."

Regarding the tow hitch, I'd go back to the dealer and see if you can get a different hitch installed that's more to your liking. It would be helpful if you had a picture of the type of hitch you wanted.
