Everyone's raising prices -- should you?

Knowing when to raise pricesSuccess has a price -- and lately, it's been going up.

An increasing number of small-business owners are opting to raise prices, according to the National Federation of Independent Business, which surveys small-business owners each month for its Small Business Economic Trends report.

As part of each report, small-business owners are asked whether they've raised their prices or lowered them. Every month since January 1999, the survey found more increasing prices than lowering them -- and the pace has been picking up.
