Leaving Las Vegas in style

If you eat cockroaches, what sort of car should you drive? Nicolas
Cage, known for the wild-haired, introspective, repeat offender H.I. of "Raising
Arizona," the cockroach- eating Peter Loew of "Vampire's Kiss,"
and most recently for marrying Lisa Marie Presley, is driving a car from his
late father-in-law's heyday. The eccentric Cage drives a 1955 red Cadillac Eldorado
convertible that practically oozes Elvis-era cool.
The Eldorado comes from a time when luxury vehicles were lavishly
luxurious -- in a Graceland-sort of way. The top-of-the-line Eldorado, St. Moritz,
featured an interior upholstered in white ermine fur and white English grain leather.
As a special feature for the ladies, a pullout vanity was included in the front
armrest.
In 1955 the Eldorado sold for $5,814, a hefty price back
then. Today, restored models of varying quality sell for between $19,425 and
$47,500 -- if you can find them.
