Using an amalgam of ratings provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the independent Web site, informedforlife.org, this choice will give you the safest vehicles in your chosen style.
 BMW 3 Series Standard airbags: front, side, head
BMW 3 Series  Although this particular model has not been tested by either the federal government or the IIHS, tests of the four-door version have produced superior results. The independent evaluation group InformedforLife.org rates the 3 Series coupe in its medium risk category. Anti-lock brakes, stability control and traction control are standard.
 Pontiac G6Standard airbags: Front/Optional side and head
Pontiac G6  In government tests by NHTSA, the G6 coupe received "excellent" or "good" ratings for driver, passenger rear side-impact and rollover crash tests. It was rated "average" in the front side-impact test. It has not been tested by the IIHS. Anti-lock brakes and traction control are standard.
 Honda Civic Standard airbags: front, side, head
Honda Civic  The Civic coupe was rated by the NHTSA as "excellent" in driver and passenger crash tests and was ranked "good" in rollover tests. Side-impact tests were not done. It received a "good" rating from the IIHS in its offset-impact crash test. Anti-lock brakes are standard.
