| The big news for
2005 is the arrival of the STS, which replaces the mid-size Seville. But more
than a name change, the STS
finally signals a significant break with Caddy sedans of the last 20 years. Svelte,
powerful and with rear-wheel-drive, the STS may finally be the car that puts GM's
flagship brand on a par with its import competition.
In base trim, the STS comes with a 255-horsepower
V6, but most buyers will want the 320-horsepower 4.6-liter V8, even
though it triggers a $1,000 federal gas-guzzler tariff.
Because this model is such a break with recent Cadillac
traditions, it's one of Bankrate's 10 cars to watch for 2005.

Elsewhere, Cadillac has added a smaller, less powerful
V6 to the CTS entry-level sedan to keep the starting price at
about $32,000. The V-8-powered CTS-V high-performance version
tops out at about $50,000.
