Bankrate.com Four-door sedans
under $15,000 This is a tough part of the market.
Buyers are very price-conscious, yet they want the most value for their dollars.
Honda Civic It's
the class of the field in terms of features, handling, interior appointments and
Honda's reputation for quality.

those who want to be on the cutting edge of technology, there's a gas-electric
super economy hybrid Civic -- but it will cost closer to $20,000. Getting a regular
Civic for less than $15,000 will require careful bargaining, but it can be done.

Mazda 3 This
all-new sedan replaces the Protégé and is a joy to drive. Its styling

to the traditional Honda and Toyota models. Price:

Elantra Here's a good choice for those who want
the most for their money. It's aggressively priced and its long list of standard
features can't be beat in this category. It has also been mildly restyled for
2004. The only lingering questions are about reliability and resale value. But
Hyundai's longer-than-standard warranty may overcome some buyers' concerns.

4-speed automatic Fuel estimate: 24-33 mpg Warranty: 5 years/60,000 miles Four-door
sedans $15,000-$25,000 When it comes to the traditional
definition of the family vehicle -- before the advent of the minivan and the SUV
-- this category is the heart of the market. Buyers want room, reliability and
a long list of features. If there's some performance under the hood, then that's
a plus. Honda Accord Honda
again is the top choice here. The recently restyled Accord breaks the standard
box-on-wheels theme that has afflicted others in this category. It's a handsome
sedan that's roomy beyond what its exterior dimensions would suggest. With the
availability of a 240-horsepower V6, the Accord is a complete package.

to transporting the family. Price: $18,995-$23,495
Engines: 2.2-liter inline four; 3.5-liter V6 Horsepower: 145 (inline four);
