Rankin: It did, because we moved out of the apartment into a nice
big house. Money changes your life in all sorts of ways. Two big things
it changed for me were that I could buy a nice big house, and my youngest
son was able to get special needs -- anything he needs we can buy straightaway.
If he needs a special wheelchair or special bed or people to come in and
take him out for walks, take him swimming or get him dressed, we can afford
to buy him help. That has made a vast difference to us. And it means that
when I die, there will be a fund of money sitting there to keep looking
after him.
Lesson learned:
If you have children with special needs, you must plan for their lives after you pass away.
