The Federal Trade Commission advances its goals by providing information online.  The organization, which is dedicated to protecting and educating consumers and maintaining competition among businesses, has developed a site that helps keep the public informed.

The FTC site makes it easy for consumers to learn about and contact the organization.  It is well-designed and is broken down into understandable categories.  Some of the organization's consumer publications can be read online, along with recent news releases.

      Best bets:
  • Consumer protection: Articles and information for consumers.
  • About privacy: Consumer education on personal information and safe Web surfing.
  • Complaint form: Send information about a fraudulent company or offer to the Bureau of Consumer Protection.
