Texas Full Strategic Investment Areas for 2001

In 2001, Texas will offer several tax breaks for businesses: a job creation tax credit, an investment tax credit and a research credit bonus. Eligibility for the tax benefits depends on a business' type and in which kind of newly-designated Strategic Investment Area (SIA) it is located.

Firms based in full SIA counties may apply for the complete slate of tax breaks: job creation and investment credits, plus the research credit bonus.

114 counties have been named as full-purpose SIAs. These areas were selected because of their relative unemployment rate and per-capita income. Firms that are engaged in manufacturing, warehousing, wholesale distribution, computer services or research in these counties can apply for the three tax breaks in 2001.
