Dear
Terry,
My 1989 Lincoln Continental with only 85,000 original
miles on it now needs to have its third head gasket
replaced. I've taken good care of this car and
kept it garaged. This will cost more than the
car is worth in repairs. It's just not fair. What
can I do?

Dear
Frank,
You've got to face the fact that you've got an 18-year-old car, no matter what's on the odometer.
Also, the 1980s were not stellar years for big cars made by Detroit, so dependability wasn't the best. You must decide whether it's worth repairing the Lincoln or shopping for something newer.
