Think car commercials, “Fast and Furious” movies, James Bond flicks, and of course, looking forward to that magical age of 16 when you can finally get your driver’s license. Americans have an ongoing love affair with cars that probably won’t end anytime soon.
So, what impacts the kind of car we buy?
Fuel efficiency and practicality are nice, but they aren’t always the most important factors for most car buyers. Karl Brauer, senior director of insights at Kelley Blue Book, says the car’s styling “is usually the first thing that gets their interest, and if everything else fits with their budget and their needs, they buy the car.
“People want cars that either reflect their personality or project what they want people to think of them,” he says.
