Climate: Humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and mild winters
Overview
The locals' motto is "Keep Austin Weird," reflecting the general interest that Austin's culture stay focused on local and independent businesses, artists and musicians. The last of these is perhaps the most ubiquitous, with Austin declaring itself the "live music capital of the world." The city has the most music venues per capita in the United States and regularly features festivals such as the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival, featuring 130 bands in a three-day musical extravaganza. Austin is also home to the University of Texas -- and all the academic opportunities and sporting events it offers.
